Alpina hotel history

In 1964 Karl Heinz Platzer and his mother Rosa Platzer opened their bed & breakfast, accommodating up to 45 guests.

In 1966 the guesthouse was slightly refurbished and enlarged (entrance, restaurant, lobby)

In 1971 the house accommodated 110 guests. A large dining hall was added - as well as the "Zirbenstube" pine wood parlour and a spacious lobby with open fireplace.

The old part of the building was reconstructed in 1977.

In 1983/84 Hotel Sonnberg was acquired and refurbished. The covered corridor was added, connecting Sonnberg and Alpina.

An indoor pool & sauna parlor were built by the Platzer Family in 1985.

In 1988 the south-facing rooms were refurbished to Alpina junior suite standard. Also Sonnberg's southern rooms were enlarged and improved.

1991 was a very eventful year in our hotel's history: a new hotel lobby was built right above the indoor pool and the whole entrance-reception area was was newly designed. Contemporarily, the dining hall and the "Zirbenstube" pine wood parlour were extended. New deluxe double rooms, category D and - in part - category C, were added.

In 1997 the rooms above the dining hall were reconstructed, adding living areas up to 167 m² size.

In 2000 the residential building for our hotel employees was opened. The sauna parlour was enlarged, and a new Panorama relaxation room was opened.

In 2001 Alpina's kitchen was newly built, while the rooms located above were newly designed and extended.

In 2003 the hotel's main entrance changed while the sun terrace was extended - as well as the non-smoking dining hall. The buffet room was as well newly designed.

In 2007 the Alpina saw extensive construction works: the entire wellness parlour was refurbished, a large underground parking area was built, a new fitness room and a ski & ski boot storage room were added.

2010 Newly designed indoor pool area. Indoor pool and water filtration system were replaced.

In 2012 the hotel’s dining hall was refurbished in top modern and elegant style.

In 2015 the reception area was modernized and equipped with a brand-new light concept for the entire lobby.

Newly designed Junior Suites (Category D1) plus completely new bathrooms in 2015.

In 2017 the reception and the entire lobby were renovated.
