Right on Obergurgl's doorstep is the Timmelsjoch, an Alpine pass that raises the happiness level of every racing cyclist, serpentine after serpentine. But mountain bikers also let off steam: On legendary bike trails that are hard to beat in terms of variety and scenery. And taking your bike with you? That's taken care of, too, with the free public bus throughout the Ötztal and the mountain cable cars that take you and your bike to the top (sometimes for a fee).

• If you are planning a full-day cycling tour, the cycle path through the entire Ötztal is a good choice. Starting in Haiming at 670m, the cycle path runs through the entire Ötztal and ends in Sölden at 1,377m.

• If you are still unsure on two wheels, you can also make an appointment directly with the various bike schools. No matter what level, here you will be taught the right riding technique for your purpose.
